What is your standard wood finish?

We use Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C as our standard finish for solid oak table tops. This premium hardwax oil is designed to enhance the natural beauty of the timber while providing durable protection for everyday use.

Natural appearance

Unlike varnishes and lacquers, Rubio Monocoat does not create a thick film over the wood. Instead, it bonds with the fibres of the wood, preserving its natural grain, texture and character.

The standard finish has a beautiful, natural matt appearance, without the artificial shine associated with some  varnishes. For customers who prefer a little more sheen, additional products are available.

Wide choice of colours

Rubio Monocoat offers 30+ colours, from light, natural oak tones to warm browns and rich, darker shades. This allows us to offer a wide range of appearances while retaining the natural beauty of solid wood.

Below is a selection of colours we have chosen to make available as samples.

Durability and protection

Rubio Monocoat provides excellent resistance to everyday wear, water and stains, making it a strong choice not just for residential settings but busy cafés, restaurants and other commercial environments.

Its advanced technology bonds the oil directly to the wood fibres, creating a durable protective finish without forming a thick surface coating.

The finish is also certified as suitable for surfaces that come into contact with food, providing additional reassurance for use on dining tables.

Rubio Monocoat offers excellent resistance to everyday spills, including water, drinks and food, making it particularly suitable for busy dining environments. Although no natural wood finish is completely impervious to staining or damage, Rubio provides robust protection under normal use.

Efficient application and lower costs

Rubio Monocoat requires only one coat to colour and protect the wood, rather than the multiple coats required by many traditional finishes. This reduces application time in our workshop, allowing us to pass on the cost savings to our customers.

Please note: we have made every effort to ensure the images on this website are an accurate representation of how the wood looks ‘in person’ but colours can appear quite different from screen-to-screen.
