Almost all of the tables and tabletops we make are finished in hardwax oil, which offers excellent protection while retaining a natural finish for the wood and a choice of four colours.
Sometimes a customer requests that we use polyurethane varnish instead, usually because they are not familiar with hardwax oil and its qualities and capabilities.
In this case we are pleased to do so, but there may be an additional cost involved incurred through delays caused by the slower drying time of varnish and the added complexity in achieving a good finish with it. If a customer request a water-based varnish, there is usually no additional cost but it comes with the caveat that it is unlikely to offer the same long term protection as hardwax oil.
