A London media agency approached us with a concept for a modular podcast desk, designed to be reconfigured depending on the number of participants, from a single host up to four people.

The customer provided a basic image with full dimensions, and we produced 3D renders to illustrate how the final product would look in different setups. The render at this early stage was made to show the wood stained brown although black was chosen as the final colour.

Each desk unit connects using easy-to-use bolts that secure into discreetly positioned metal inserts on the inside, allowing the configuration to be adjusted quickly and securely. To keep the workspace tidy, cable holes with grommets were incorporated, providing a neat channel for wires across the desk tops.

The desks were constructed from 27mm solid pine and treated with a water-based black stain, before being finished with a clear satin hardwax oil to protect the timber while highlighting its natural grain and texture.

The tables were delivered by van to the office in Farringdon, central London.
