Bespoke dining table with box shaped base

The customer designed this table themselves, providing a detailed diagram with exact dimensions for us to work from. Before construction began, we created a 3D render to show how the finished piece would look, ensuring every detail matched their vision.

They had requested a substantial 40mm thick table top, but for reasons of budget and to avoid a top-heavy feel, we offered a solution: a 24mm solid top with a 16mm underside border, creating the appearance of a 40mm edge while keeping the table balanced and elegant.

Crafted from solid prime full-stave oak, the table features a square edge with softly eased corners for a clean, modern look. The hollow base was filled with timber offcuts to add weight, giving the piece extra stability without making it bulky. Metal straightening bars were routed into both ends of the top as an anti-warping measure, combining traditional craftsmanship with subtle, practical engineering.

The finish is a hardwax oil in a custom tint, mixed on site to complement the customer’s mid-century modern furniture and highlight the natural warmth and grain of the oak.
