Designed to make the most of the available space, this custom L-shaped desk provides a practical yet characterful workspace. It is crafted from 27mm solid knotty pine, chosen for its warmth and natural texture, giving the piece a relaxed, informal feel.
The customer also required matching shelving, but as the property was rented, fixing anything to the walls was not an option. Our solution was to design and build a shelving unit that sits directly on top of the desk. This was assembled and secured in place on site, with carefully considered proportions to ensure it remains stable and well-balanced without the need for wall fixings.
Turned solid beech legs support the desk, adding a subtle decorative detail that complements the overall design. At the rear of the desk top, two neatly formed cut-outs were incorporated to allow cables to pass through cleanly, helping to keep the workspace tidy and functional.
The piece is finished in a dark tinted hardwax oil, which enhances the natural grain of the pine while providing a durable, hardwearing surface.
