This project was created for a customer looking for a farmhouse-style table and bench, with legs painted in a bespoke shade of green chosen to complement their kitchen.

The table top was constructed with a full apron beneath, while the legs were fixed directly into the top for strength. To ensure the piece could be easily transported and manoeuvred into the property, each leg was made in two sections — a square upper and a turned lower portion.
The lower, turned section can be quickly unscrewed and reattached within minutes, making installation straightforward without compromising on stability.
The specification included a solid prime oak table top at 30mm thickness, finished with a soft radius to both the top and bottom edge and gently rounded corners. Beneath, a full apron connects the legs, and the entire piece is protected with a clear hardwax oil finish. The legs are made from solid pine in a traditional farmhouse style and painted, measuring 90mm on the table and 69mm on the bench.

The finished piece, for a house in Crouch End, north London, is a practical and hardwearing interpretation of a classic farmhouse table, with a clean, contemporary feel.
“Happy would be an understatement! We are absolutely delighted – it looks fantastic.” – Customer email
